Reporting Information
***NOTICE***
Report dates and course start date have shifted. Pay close attention to report dates listed within your welcome letter and watch for IPPS-A notifications on amendments to PCS orders, HRC will be amending orders to match new report dates. Carefully read the information below concerning travel and lodging arrangements. Arriving early is strongly discouraged, as lodging will be scarce between mid-June through mid-July, personal leave should be taken prior to your arrival.
Due to Kansas City serving as a host to four base camps of international World Cup teams and six matches between 16 June and 11 July 2026, report dates and the course start date for resident CGSOC have been shifted to help alleviate temporary lodging and transportation concerns within the local area.
To reduce lodging complications, it is recommended to arrange a seamless door-to-door move, if possible. Arriving early is discouraged, as lodging will be scarce between mid-June through mid-July, personal leave should be taken prior to your arrival.
Travel and housing arrangements should be within the downtown Kansas City area should be avoided due to anticipated street closures during these events.
In addition to hosting six World Cup matches Kansas City will also be host to four base camps of international teams competing in the World Cup. These events will create significant logistical challenges.

CGSOC
CGSOC is a ten-month resident course to develop highly competent and professional field grade General Staff Officers with the warfighting, historical, leadership, and decision-making expertise to enable Army combined arms formations to successfully execute multi-domain unified land operations in contested environments against peer threats. The course is taught in three phases, Common Core, Advance Operations Course, and Elective Phase. All parts of this course are challenging and taught at the graduate level.

Early Reporting
- US Army Officers Requesting Early Reporting (Prior to 1 July) must receive written permission to sign into CGSOC prior to the reporting date on your PCS orders. To request early reporting, you must submit a written request, (via email) to your branch manager. Requests must include the following information: Name, Rank, Branch, SSN / DoDID, CGSOC class date, requested report date, current duty station and mailing address, DEROS (if applicable), current phone number, current email, and rationale for requesting early report. Each request is evaluated on an individual basis. Reporting early subjects you to duty with an activity located at Fort Leavenworth as directed by the Commander, Combined Arms Center. For more information, please contact usarmy.leavenworth.cac.mbx.armyu-cgsc-ussd@army.mil
Regular Reporting
- DO NOT REPORT EARLY UNLESS COORDINATED THROUGH YOUR BRANCH MANAGER AND AUTHORIZED BY THE USSD COMMANDER. REPORT DATES WILL BE FOUND ON YOUR IPPS-A PCS ORDER FOR CGSOC. There are a limited number of houses and transportation carriers available per week. CGSS is one of the largest moving bodies in the Army and we use carriers from multiple states to stay on top of the need. Housing assignments are determined in advance and not by first come, first served basis. Arrive when you are scheduled or when the on-post housing office gives you a date if planning to live on-post. If living off-post, arrive in accordance with orders and/or leave plans associated with off-post housing lease agreement. There will be plenty of time while you in-process with CGSS to take care of personal and administrative matters. In the event of an unforeseen life changing event, early or late reporting requires coordination with your branch manager at HRC.

UNIFORMS. Students need to arrive with a full complement of required uniforms readily available when arriving at Ft. It is important to have the appropriate apparel for cold weather for each type of uniform, particularly - Class B winter items due to the limited availability at Ft. Leavenworth. Personal procurement must be completed at your current duty station. There is no Central Issue Facility on Ft. Leavenworth; however, CGSC can assist with acquiring maternity OCPs for students who need them.
RECEIVING COURSE INFORMATION
CGSC sends information via military email addresses (as listed in ATRRS). Attendees should ensure their current military address is valid. As of January 2025, IPPS-A began providing ATRRS with the email addresses that Soldiers have identified as their primary or “preferred” addresses in IPPS-A. The email address that ATRRS uses is another avenue for communicating important school notifications. If you have not received any emails from ATRRS and/or would like to update the preferences for what email address ATRRS has on file, please log into IPPS-A and make sure the right email is entered. (Log into IPPS-A and search for “Personal Details,” select the Contact Details tab, enter/confirm the email address, choose “Preferred,” then save). Keep in mind that if you use an email other than an army.mil address as your preferred email, ATRRS notifications may be going to the spam folder of your preferred email. These notifications will also be sent to your army.mil email. Officers may email the school to ensure their email is correct in ATRRS if they are not receiving correspondence.
