The Department of Command and Leadership provides students a challenging, graduate-level education on leading and developing organizations. Our curriculum explores the cognitive, social, cultural, and ethical aspects of organizational leadership and military command.

Our multidisciplinary faculty work as a team to prepare students to excel as organizational leaders by developing compelling courses that combine theory, history, and case studies. The interdisciplinary nature of our curriculum requires a diverse faculty with a broad range of education and experience. We therefore seek candidates with diverse academic, demographic, and professional backgrounds.
Faculty member duties and responsibilities include:
- Teach graduate-level courses on a broad range of organizational leadership topics including organizational development, decision making, change management, climate and culture, self-assessment, stress, negotiations, values and ethics, and critical thinking.
- Develop core curriculum in collaboration with other faculty
- Develop and teach elective courses in areas of interest and expertise
- Conduct, publish, and present scholarly research
- Attend professional conferences and presentations
- Serve on councils, committees, and working groups
- Serve as student academic coach
- Participate in and contribute to faculty development
The CGSC is a professional military education institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Selected graduates earn a Master of Operational Studies or a Master of Military Art and Science. The CGSC is located at historic Fort Leavenworth, Kansas which combines small-town charm with easy access to culture, dining, and entertainment in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
