Important Policy Updates
Elimination of equivalency and constructive credit
Effective 12 August 2024, equivalent and constructive credit for Civilian Education System (CES) course attendance is no longer available.
Auto-Enrollment of new supervisors into grade-requisite CES course
Effective 1 October 2025, all new supervisors — including current supervisors who are still in their probationary supervisory status — will be flagged for automatic enrollment into their grade-requisite CES course (either the Direct Leadership Course (DLC) (GS 01 – 09), Organizational Leadership Course (OLC) (GS 10 – 13) or Enterprise Leadership Course (ELC) (GS 14 – 15)). Once flagged, supervisors will have two years to enroll in and complete their grade-requisite CES course in their preferred modality and time. If the required course is not completed in the first two years, supervisors will be automatically enrolled into a course in the third year.
Policy Change and Rebranding of CES Courses
The Civilian Education System is undergoing policy changes and a simultaneous rebranding of its courses. There will still be a mandatory CES completion requirement for Army Civilian Professional (ACP) supervisors at each grade, but the requirements have been adjusted to reflect the aforementioned policy and naming convention changes.
Beginning in October 2025, the CES requirement for ACP supervisors at their respective grades is as follows:
The Basic Course is rebranded to the Direct Leadership Course (DLC), and
remains the mandatory CES course for GS01-09 supervisors.
The Intermediate Course has been rebranded as the Organizational Leadership
Course (OLC) and is the mandatory CES course for GS10-13 supervisors.
The Advanced Course is eliminated from the inventory and a two-week Enterprise Leadership Course (ELC) has been designed. ELC becomes the mandatory CES course for GS14-15 supervisors.
