BG Antwan L. Dunmyer

Brigadier General Antwan L Dunmyer, Sr., is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduating from South Carolina State University in 1998. Over 27 years of service, he has held key command and staff positions and has multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

He most recently served  as the Director of the Mission Command Center of Excellence. He previously served as the Deputy Commanding General for Operations, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), commanded the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade; 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division; and Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.

His operational and combat assignments include serving as the Deputy Commander for Train, Advise, Assist Command – West (TAAC-W) in Herat, Afghanistan, during Operation Resolute Support. He also held key leadership roles in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, and 82nd Airborne Division.

Brigadier General Dunmyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from South Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His military education includes the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Infantry Captains Career Course, and Infantry Officer Basic Course.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (4th award), Bronze Star Medal (3rd award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), NATO Meritorious Service Medal, Master Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the coveted Ranger Tab.

Brigadier General Dunmyer is the 55th Commandant of the U.S. Army War College.
