CSM Derek Noyes

Command Sergeant Major Derek Noyes, a native of Amarillo, Texas, enlisted in the Army in July 1996 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky as an Armor Crewman. CSM Noyes has held every leadership position in the armor and cavalry community from Tank Gunner to Division Command Sergeant Major. His previous assignment was the Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley. He has also served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia, and the Command Sergeant Major of the 194th Armored Brigade, Fort Benning Georgia.

CSM Noyes has completed two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom, one deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom, and one deployment to Operation Spartan Shield. CSM Noyes has completed all levels of non-commissioned officer education from the Primary Leadership Development Course to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 68. He is also a graduate of the Nominative Leader’s Course, Abrams Master Gunner Course, Army Recruiter Course, and Battle Staff Course. CSM Noyes holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in Human Resources from Columbia Southern University. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2OLC), Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Good Conduct
Medal (9th award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 bronze stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal (4 bronze stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5), the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 7). CSM Noyes has also received the Order of Saint George (Silver) and the Order of Saint Maurice (Legionnaire).
