Dr. Robert E. Brunk is the Director of the Army Management Staff College. As the Director of the Army Management Staff College, he oversees all aspects of the college program and serves as the program manager for the Civilian Education System. The program is at a level of excellence as evidenced by 92% on recent accreditation and stake holder feedback.
Prior to this position, he served as Deputy Director responsible for Academic Operations, College operations, Chief of Staff for the College Staff and program director for the Academic Program. The program director directly supervises all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the college to include a $29 million budget and 103 personnel; leads the development and execution of college strategic planning, policies, missions, and functions and necessary support for conduct of courses.
After 5 years as an enlisted soldier, he served 15 years as an Airborne, Ranger Infantry officer. After retirement and seven years with General Dynamics, he served 15 years as a Department of the Army Civilian in a wide variety of leadership positions. He holds a BS degree in psychology from Austin Peay State University, TN; a master’s in education from Drury University, Springfield, MO and a Doctorate in Education with emphasis on Organizational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Brunk has been with the college since 2009 and has served as instructor for the Basic Course, Instructor for the Advanced Course, Director of the Department of Organizational Leadership, Director of the Department of Enterprise Leadership, Director of the Department of Innovation and Strategy and most recently as the Deputy Director of Army Management Staff College.
AMSC educates 40,000 online, distant education students and 3,500 resident students each year. Current CES has been reorganized with the Army Transformation Initiative and has created new resident and online courses in support of a cost-effective point of need strategy.
