Overview
The Supervisor Development Course – Refresher (SDC-R) is a web-based course with lessons that focus on supervising Civilian employees. The course is designed to meet the National Defense Authorization Act of 2010 mandate that all supervisors of Army Civilians (both Military and Civilian) receive supervisory training every three (3) years. This course is to be taken on the 3rd and subsequent years after completion of the initial Supervisor Development Course (SDC).
*Note: SDC-R enrollments are based on a student’s SDC certification status. If the SDC certification is active (within 3 years) then the student is assigned the SDC-R. If the SDC certification is NOT active (older than 3 years), then the student is assigned the initial SDC.
Subjects Covered
There are 17 lessons organized into the following 5 modules:
- Course Introduction
- Foundation of a Supervisor
- Employee and Performance Management
- Dealing with Misconduct
- Labor and Employee Relations
Each module is broken down into four parts: a pretest, a module introduction video, content lessons, and a graded practical exercise. SDC-R lessons have been shortened by removing the action items, mentor moments, and anecdotes. Lesson guides are available for download and use for future reference.
